This program area provides for skill development and health and physical
fitness. Opportunities for group and individual competition are provided
through regularly scheduled tournaments and activities. Some of these
activities include basketball, martial arts, floor hockey, paddleball,
handball, volleyball, weight training, boxing, etc. Clubhouse pools
are open year round and provide the members with opportunities for
both recreational and competitive swimming.
There are also learn to swim classes, advanced life saving classes
and other water related activities. Qualified water safety instructors
supervise pool related activities at all times.

Boys' Club of New York clubhouses.
Lifeguard
Program
This program is designed to introduce the fundamentals of lifeguard
training through a certified 7-part program. Through completion
of this program, members may obtain lifeguard summer jobs throughout
city pools and beaches.
Learn
to Swim
This program is designed to give members a positive swimming
experience in an environment that is conducive to learning.
The program is dedicated to teaching the art of swimming as
well as water safety skills.
Metropolitan
Boys' and Girls Club Swim League
This program is structured to introduce members to the fundamentals
of competitive swimming following guidelines of the US Swimming
Association.
Ice Hockey
This is a collaborative venture between The Boys' Club of New
York and Ice Hockey of Harlem. Members are exposed to the game's
history as well as its fundamentals.
Flag
Football Program
This program provides an opportunity for individuals to participate
in this structured gridiron sport. Members learn to perform
as a team and appreciate the value of teamwork and fair play.
