The Boys’ Club of New York All-Star Band showed off their skills with a performance to remember at the Peter Norton Symphony Space on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
The concert, held on May 23rd, 2011, featured forty-one performers from all three of our clubhouses- Abbe, Harriman and Gerry. Under the Director of Music Education, Malcolm Swisher, the band performed an eclectic mix of music, highlighting songs from The Allman Brothers, Dave Brubeck, and The Spinner’s. By the end of the night everyone was on their feet, signing and clapping along.
As you will notice in the photos, the talented BCNY musicians play a variety of instruments, from drums, vibes, violins, guitar, bass, alto saxes, piano and vocals, the group has immense flexibility and range. The All-Star Band members receive one-on-one instruction from 14 professional musicians.
On behalf of The Boys’ Club of New York, thank you for supporting our music program, and if you missed the show- please click on this link to view photos from the night’s event.
