Established in 1957, the Independent School Placement program is the nation’s oldest Independent School Placement Program. Since its inception, there have been over 1,600 graduates of the program. Each year, BCNY supports over 200 of its members studying at independent day and boarding schools throughout the country. The program monitors student progress, conducts school visits and offers workshops and seminars for all participants and their families throughout the academic year. Close contact is maintained with school officials and parents to insure that each student's academic, social, and athletic needs are being met. The costs are absorbed through school-based financial aid, family contributions and other scholarship programs. Should a participant require tutorial support beyond the classroom, BCNY tries to assist the families and serves as an advocate to secure additional resources when needed. Over the past 51 years, the retention rate of the participants has been over 90%. The college placement rate of its graduates stands at 100%.
