Any successful educational program depends on the cooperation of students, parents and school staff. Participants are expected to follow and abide by all camp rules and regulations. Living in a community requires self-respect, restraint, patience, the ability to compromise and the willingness to help when called upon. Students are expected to maintain their living quarters in a clean and orderly manner. Attendance is both critical and expected—participants who amass more than three absences during any summer session will not be considered for important awards and 8 th graders could jeopardize their graduation status. In addition to the summer program,
Robert M. Gardiner School
students will be expected to participate in the Follow-Up Program throughout the school year in which they will receive enrichment and tutoring after school. Failure to meet this expectation may lead to a student's dismissal from the program .
Character and Community
The Gardiner School fosters the development of responsible and civil young men who demonstrate respect for themselves, their peers and the school community. Students are held to higher standards of behavior and character. Leadership development and peer mediation are keys components to the Gardiner School experience.
Academic Excellence
Each summer, students receive both academic remediation and enrichment helping them meet and surpass the learning standards established by the State. At the
Robert M. Gardiner School, students focus on meaningful learning rather than standardized test preparation. Class sizes never exceed twelve students, establishing an intimate and effective learning environment.
Athletics and Recreation
While academics play an integral role at The Gardiner School, students are required to participate in variety of athletic and recreational activities. Students have the opportunity to play sports such as basketball and soccer, learn chess, and swim. These activities help guarantee that students not have a productive, but also well-rounded and enjoyable summer.
