Expectations Programs & Activities Curriculum Cabin Life

CABIN LIFE

Cabin life plays an integral role in the Robert M. Gardiner School .  The cabins are the students' home at camp and their fellow cabin residents, their teammates. Through the experience of living in the cabins, students develop their sense of responsibility, self-reliance and ability to work with others.  Cabins compete against each other in friendly athletic games every afternoon in what is known as Cabin Competition. Gardiner School students are responsible, under the guidance and supervision of staff, for their belongings and the cleanliness of their cabin.  Students are held to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene at the Gardiner, and are provided with the support and encouragement to become more accountable, independent and organized.

Teacher Counselors

The Teacher Counselors (TC) are the foundation of the Gardiner School student success.  These college students come to school as coaches, teachers and role models for students.  Many of the TCs are alumni of The Boys' Club of New York and the Gardiner School.

These men have demonstrated the determination, ability and resilience to succeed in school and life, and they bring their experiences and resolve back to share with current CCS students.
