The Boys’ Club of New York (BCNY) Writers Series features some of the nation’s most prominent and important authors, along with several young and promising writers. We anticipate the Writers Series will develop and grow to become an institution of not only the Boys’ Club, but also the metropolitan education and literary communities.

BCNY’s Writers Series consists of authors speaking and reading to an audience of After School Academy participants, all of whom explored the author’s work, along with educators, community leaders and BCNY professional staff. The ASA members read selected works by author at their clubhouse with the guidance of an instructor and a thought-provoking curriculum. Members explore the authors’ ideas, themes and craft in a serious and rigorous manner. The series encourages ASA members to develop a love of reading and a propensity for reflection and thought.

With the participation of these great authors and the instruction provided by the BCNY educators, this series will become one of the region’s signature events—one which would further the development of our members into cultured and well-formed human beings.
